As part of a College brief, a series of Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA) seminar posters were to be produced in order to seek, inform and assist design professionals through some tricky legal areas. AGDA admitted the titles were a little dry and wanted something more catchy, as long as the intent remained the same. The posters needed to relate to each other and have a common theme running through them. The conceptual approach for the design of these posters is one that stems from the daily enjoyment individuals obtain from using their mobile phones and text messaging their friends. Therefore, I have simulated an iPhone text messaging screen (including the same typeface that an iPhone uses) that would be a compelling way to grasp the attention of people on the streets as they walk by. This level of personal engagement makes an effective execution on an Adshel where the reader will be immediately attracted to discover what it is the text messages have to say. The posters required information that provides a brief insight into the seminar topic. I decided to communicate these details as an ordinary text messaging conversation between two friends. In the midst of this dialogue, colloquial language is implemented in order to deliver the information for each AGDA seminar. The utilisation of natural syntaxes and common abbreviations provoke a sense of similarity and a sense of humour to some extent through the means of a light-hearted tone of expression.
